Crisis Intervention (Full Workshop)
This interactive and experiential workshop takes an in-depth look at ways to understand and support those who are experiencing a mental health crisis. in addition, this workshop covers ways to de-escalate dangerous situations.
A Shared Understanding
Ask ten people for their definition of a crisis and you will get ten different answers. This presentation helps providers all orient themselves to a shared understanding of mental health crisis.
The Anatomy of Crisis
A mental health crisis will generally follow a predictable patters, known as the escalation cycle. In this presentation, participants will learn how to recognize different stages of the escalation cycle. Participants will also learn concrete crisis prevention and de-escalation strategies.
The Critical Importance of Self-Care
Particpants will learn about the factors that trigger, influence, and impact a mental health crisis. Particular attention will be paid to the role of trauma on a mental health crisis. Finally, the importance of self-care and resiliency will be discussed.
